She is a resident of renowned Berlin club Renate\, a regular on Rinse FM\, and has released on Aus Music\, Heist\, Shall Not Fade\, Unknown To The Unknown\, HE.SHE.THEY. & her own label Dabbs Traxx\, amongst others.  \nAs the daughter of an original Northern Soul DJ\, Amy Dabbs has a deep-rooted love of music that can be heard in all of her productions\, from her modern interpretation of classic house to her deeply emotive jungle tracks. SUMMARY:Improvisation with Sequencers Masterclass with MOONBEAN
DESCRIPTION:Explore improvisation through sequencer-based electronic music with MOONBEAN. \nSequencer-based Improvisation entails the synchronizing of one or more instruments together via a “Master Clock”\, then using sequencers\, sound design\, audio mixers\, and effects\, to spontaneously compose fluid and spontaneous music in real-time. In this masterclass\, we will discuss a brief history of the technology and the cultural history of electronic dance music\, and how specific pieces of equipment changed the genre. As well as how these factors spawned a unique type of improvisation\, and why it differs from other improvisational art forms.  \nThe brief presentation will be followed by an open studio session\, workshopping a selection of synchronized electronic instruments. A small assortment of synthesizers\, drum machines and effects will be available for participants to try. \nMOONBEAN presents this workshop as part of a live performance tour in Europe. They will perform in Berlin at Madame Claude on Friday Oct 31 as part of a special Halloween party event. \nAbout the Artist: \nMOONBEAN is a hardware electronic duo composed of Valentina Morelli and Colin Harrington. They are Toronto-based multimedia artists\, A/V technicians\, and multidisciplinary musicians. MOONBEAN has toured Canada and Europe playing semi-improvised electronic dance music. They also produce and direct music videos. Outside of their artistic practices Valentina is Festival Manager and Community Partners Manager of Guelph Jazz Festival and Colin works for The International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI)  as a technician and research assistant in their ImprovLab at University of Guelph. \nLinks: \n\nWebsite\nInstagram \n

With over 15 years of experience collecting and performing music\, he has built a library of more than 30\,000 tracks that shape his sound identity. \nBefore starting Djoid\, Alaa led Data and Music Insights at Native Instruments\, where he worked closely with artists and the global DJ community to understand how technology can support creativity. \nDriven by the challenge of preparing DJ sets from vast collections\, he created Djoid to give DJs new ways to organize\, tag\, and design their music into stories. At this workshop\, Alaa will share both his personal approach to music preparation and practical techniques using Djoid\, showing how to think in chapters\, tag efficiently\, and transform gig prep into an inspiring part of the art. \n  \nAbout DJOID: \nBorn in Berlin’s music scene\, Djoid is a next-generation platform built by DJs.
